Once Known as the World’s Greatest Hockey GoalKeeper Mansoor Ahmed is now fighting for his life due to severe financial constraints.

KARACHI: Jinnah Hospital’s  Cardio-Vascular  Bed No. 10  is where former Pakistani hockey captain Mansoor Ahmed  – once celebrated as  the World’s Best Field  Hockey Goalkeeper  is getting closer to death with each passing hour for want of sufficient funds to pay for pacemaker that costs about Rs. 1.8 million.

Mansoor Ahmed played (1986 – 2000) as a Goalkeeper and Captain Pakistan hockey team.He played 338 International matches. He played three Olympics and won Bronze in the 1992 Olympic. Mansoor Ahmed played three consecutive World Cups and won 1994 World Cup Hockey Championship (world Cup). Also hold Silver medal in 1990 world Cup Hockey Championship. He played ten Champions Trophies and Gold medal in 1994.Played three Asian Games and won gold in 1990 Beijing (China). In his career he earned 12 gold,12 silver and 8 bronzes medal in international hockey tournaments.

Sorrowfully, the man who had brought laurels for the country by playing 338 international matches for Pakistan is not even being paid his dues from Customs Department for which he worked.

Federal Government of Pakistan and Provincial Government of Sindh seem to be the last hope for dying national hero.
