لی کوآن یو کہتے ہیں ”ایماندار حکومت کے قیام کے لئے اوّلین شرط یہ ہے کہ انتخاب لڑنے کے لئے بڑی رقومات نہ خرچ کرنی پڑیں ورنہ اس سے کرپشن کا سلسلہ شروع ہو جائے گا۔ بہت سے ایشیائی ممالک کا اصل روگ بہت بڑے بڑے انتخابی اخراجات ہیں۔زیادہ اخراجات کر کےمنتخب ہونے والے کامیاب امیدوار اپنا خرچ شدہ سرمایہ نکالتے ہیں اور اگلے چناؤ کے اخراجات کے لئے بھی رقوم اکٹھی کرلیتے ہیں “۔
اگر پاکستان سے کرپشن کا خاتمہ کرنا ہے تو ہمیں انتخابی اصلاحات کے ذریعے الیکشن اخراجات میں کمی لانا ہوگی۔نظام کی بہتری کے لئے یہ ایک کار گرنسخہ ہے۔

Lee Kuan Yew says “A precondition for an honest government is that candidates must not need large sums of money to get elected, or it must trigger off the cycle of corruption. The bane of most countries in Asia has been high cost of elections. Having spent a lot to get elected, winners must recover their cost and also accumulate funds for next elections”.
If we want to remove corruption in Pakistan, we must bring in election reforms to cut down election cost. This is one recipe to change the system.
