The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Friday arrested two former DGs of Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) for their alleged involvement in a mega corruption case.

The accused, Wahid Khursheed and Najmus Saqib, were arrested from outside the court after their pre-arrest bails were dismissed. A single member bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Aamir Farooq, heard the plea of the accused seeking interim bail.

The accused were allegedly involved in misuse of their official position for illegally enhancing consultancy charges from Rs55.2 million to Rs144 million for SAKA consultant and also increasing unlawfully the project cost from Rs600 million to Rs1,539 million for Builder Associates.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the interim bail and the FIA Anti Corruption Cell arrested them outside the court. It may be mentioned here that the c-accused in the mega scam former Chairman EOBI Zafar Iqbal Gondal is already behind the bars in the same case.
