Human division
THIRD category of people on earth according to Quran are who say they are believers but they are not
Aya no: 8
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
And among the human are the people who say we believe in Allah(SBT) and the day of judgement and they in fact don’t believe.
This is a big statement and only can come from someone who knows what is in my mind, as human thinking is the most important privacy until or unless I reveal to the others , but Allah(SBT) has given the details of my actions in the next 12 Ayas which help to identify me as a hypocrite .
First action
Aya no: 9
يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَمَا يَخْدَعُونَ إِلَّا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ
They deceive Allah SBT and the people who believe, actually they deceive themselves but perceive not.
As this book is for guidance. Allah SBT is helping others that if I am liar or cheater, people should be careful from me.
My feelings and explanation to this Aya is that I can get benefits in this world by lying/ cheating but not very long, I will be exposed at some stage.
Also there is very beautiful Hadith of my beloved prophet (PBUH) to explain the difference between believers and hypocrites.
(Near meanings of this are , a believer can be a coward, miser but can’t be a liar )
I feel most of the people thinking like me, is that lying is cheating others , but this is actually not true , most of the time I lie to myself.Allah is saying that actually I am a loser but I don’t perceive it This is worse than that what I am doing ,i.e. I don’t understand the implications of it.
Next action
Aya no: 10
فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ اللَّهُ مَرَضًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُونَ
In there hearts there’s a disease , Allah SBT increases this disease and for them there’s painful punishment, because of their lies.
So Allah SBT doesn’t like the liars , this is a disease which can become incurable at some stage if I don’t know it’s severity. Allah SBT unfortunately becomes so angry by my lying habits that he at one stage helps me in my own down fall, may Allah SBT forgive me.
Next action which you can identify in me , if I am hypocrite is in next two ayahs
Aya:11
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ
And when it is said to them don’t cause mischief in land , they say we are indeed peacemakers
Aya:12
أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ
Verily they are the one causing mischief and they perceive not.
Causing mischief in the name of peacemaking in the land is second very dangerous and most serious action which I will do when ever I will get a chance, if I am a hypocrite. As you can see it has come after lying , as lying is mother of all evils, as evident from prophet (PBUH) Hadith.
To me mischief is not only physical fights. I also call mischief a corruption and to me there are three levels of corruption.
Level:1
Economical corruption .
You don’t need be educated to know it , this is not as damaging as the other two are.
Level:2
Moral corruption.
This is quite damaging compared to economical corruption for a society and nations . I have not seen or heard any book on which the human being agree for moral laws except the moral laws of the revealed books
This’s a separate discussion.
Level:3
Intellectual corruption
To me there are two types of it
a: unintentional
b: intentional
I will give one example related to us as Muslim.Our scholars who contributed a lot in the history of Muslim, gave their opinion about Quran and Hadith,but unfortunately their followers made sects in Islam which are not allowed at all .To me we have to come back to Quran and Hadith as Allah(SBT) has advised in.
Sura: 4 An Nisa
Aya no: 59
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
O you who believe, obey Allah SBT and his Messenger (prophet PBUH) and those of you who are in authority ,if you differ in any matter, so refer it Allah SBT and his Messenger(PBUH), if you believe in Allah SBT and the Last day. That is better and more suitable for final determination .
This is very important Aya which I feel needs a separate discussion as well, but the main message is that I have to do everything for only and only Allah SBT to please him and I should have absolutely no vested interests.
To uproot this corruption which unfortunately has shattered Muslims all over the world , we need special efforts and very organized education to counteract it.
Intentional corruption to me is the most dangerous as well. It takes long time to have an impact on society but causes damage which will take years and years to rectify.
Example to me is children of Israel mischief in the land. And if you forgive me the sects of Muslim who do it in the name of Islam.
This is most dangerous action leading to destruction of society/nations and they may not recover from it.
This is my own division , all of these corruptions are interlinked but the impact on a society and it’s duration were the reasons behind this division.
In our country we are trying to fight the first level of corruption, it’s a long journey and struggle ahead for us , if we want to be successful in world as a nation.Pakistan is one of the unique country which is not named on the basis of language neither it was created on basis of geographical division.
Again I don’t want to drag myself into this discussion as my main topic is to focus on my understanding of Qur’an and it’s relevance to present world.
I am sorry that I had to write a little more than what I wanted but it’s very important to know why these actions are important and why Allah SBT has stressed these first.
Next action
Aya: 13
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آمِنُوا كَمَا آمَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا آمَنَ السُّفَهَاءُ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
And when it is said to them that believe the way people have believed , they say shall we believe the way fools have believed , verily they are fools themselves and they know not.
It explains the lack of arguments on the part of hypocrites. Believers should always have a logical argument to convince the people. When the hypocrites have no arguments left, they will call the believers fool, but Allah SBT says they are fool themselves and they are not aware of this and unfortunately this makes the things worse for these people ,that if I am doing something but I am not aware of it’s disastrous effects for myself , this is the recipe of disaster for myself.
Next action
Aya:14
وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْا إِلَىٰ شَيَاطِينِهِمْ قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِئُونَ
When they meet the believers, they say they are believers but when they are alone with their shayatian (companions who are secret friends , hypocrites etc ),they say we are with you, indeed we were just mocking them.
As a hypocrite I will mock at the believers.This is human nature to mock at the people who we think are stupid/fools. Ad a hypocrite I will not hesitate stabbing anyone at their back for very little benefit of this world, but next Aya is very strong message to me for this action of mine.
Aya: 15
اللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Allah SBT mocks at them and helps them in their transgressions to wander blindly.
When I read that Allah SBT, if I am wrong doer or transgressor helps me to do more and on top of it I am not aware of it. This is the last step in my down fall.
These people bring the arguments which is illogical and no matter what do you do, they will not listen and reason is next few Ayas.
Aya:16
أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلَالَةَ بِالْهُدَىٰ فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا مُهْتَدِينَ
These are who have purchased error for guidance , so their commerce is profit less and they will not be guided.
So bottom line is ,if I do anything other then to please Allah SBT , I may be successful in my view and may be in the view of others , it’s a temporary benefit, but ultimately I am in loss, as explained in next Aya.
Aya: 17
مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّا أَضَاءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ ذَهَبَ اللَّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ
Their example is like the example of a person who kindled a fire , then, when it lightened all around him, Allah SBT took their light and left them in darkness , they will not see.
Again stressing the importance that Allah SBT will not guide me if I am selfish.I have to do and live in this world to please only Allah SBT . With my hypocritical actions, although others may get benefits from me, the reason is the next Aya.
Aya: 18
صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
They are deaf , dumb, blind and will not return.
The question is, do I physically become deaf, dumb and blind, the answer is no, then what does it mean, to me there are two possible answers.
A: as non believer don’t have answers to the next questions which introduce Allah SBT(Aya 21-29) and when I keep defying the the obvious truth, then my abilities of listening, seeing and thinking are there but are of no use to me.
B: Philosophically and if I am a believer , there are two human beings in me , as I explained before.
a: As the body needs food not only to grow but to maintain itself, this is physical requirements which is obvious
b: The second human in me does not need this food but the food of good deeds,if I am not a believer or I am a hypocrite, I will not look after this human and ultimately it will die , although I will be waiting for my physical death which will happen at the appointed time and place . Next two Aya, do stress this again
Aya: 19
أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فِيهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَرَعْدٌ وَبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُونَ أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ
Or like a rainstorm from sky, where in is darkness, thunder and lightning, they thrust their fingers into their ears from the fear of death and Allah SBT is encircling the non believers.
Allah SBT tries to convince the non believers that the ears which you have been given to listen , please listen, before it’s too late, I can bring the thunder storm and can physically damage your ears, keep them open to the message of Allah SBT, so this is the warning about causing physical damage to the ears, next is the warning about eyes.
Aya: 20
يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ ۖ كُلَّمَا أَضَاءَ لَهُم مَّشَوْا فِيهِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
The lighting nearly snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them they walk there in and when darkness covers them they stand still. And if Allah SBT willed, he will have taken their hearing and sight. Certainly Allah SBT has the power over all the things.
