Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that the Punjab government had ruined the Punjab Police by using the force for political victimisation.
He criticised the Punjab government over the failed operation against the Chhotu Gang citing politicisation and end of merit as reasons for the dismal police performance. Khan using a social media platform to criticise the provincial government. He accused the provincial government of politicisation and dubbed it a reason behind police failure against organised criminals in the Kacha Jamal area.
He stated that professionalism was destroyed in Punjab police after government did not care about merit. “The government is negligent of merit and it is responsible for the killing of police personnel lost in Rajanpur,” he added.
He utilised the opportunity to compare the practices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police with those of the Punjab Police. Khan stated that personnel were recruited in the police in the PTI-led province through an NTS test. He also said that the KP police was depoliticised and professional unlike the Punjab Police.
He stated that PTI would not accept anything except for a commission headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan to probe into the Panama Leaks issue. He said the investigations should be started from the prime minister adding if tax was not stolen, why offshore companies were established. He said elections were held in Pakistan but democracy has not come.
Addressing a fund-raising ceremony in London, Imran Khan stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family had to declare their assets.
He inquired as to why Nawaz Sharif formed an offshore company while serving as the prime minister of the country. He questioned if PM Nawaz had not evaded taxes, why the assets were not on his name. Further commenting on the issue, Khan added that the PM’s children were 18-19 at the time, how they acquired finances.
Imran Khan further stated that Prime Minister Nawaz had not provided a clarification of the allegations himself even once, adding that, meanwhile, the courtiers of the government were busy in blackmailing and hurling counter accusations against other political leaders including Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah.
After the ceremony, Khan during a talk with the media, stated that he had only discussed the upcoming PTI rally with Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar in a meeting during his flight.
Khan further stated that the meeting with opposition leaders was a one point agenda adding that only a commission under the chief justice would be accepted.
Khan also stated that PTI would defeat the supporters of status quo in the elections of Azad Kashmir.
