A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) was booked on Thursday for allegedly abducting and luring a teenage girl for illicit relations in Lahore.
Kahna police have registered a case, FIR 832/16, against the accused on the complaint of the sister of victim (N), a resident of Gulshan-e-Munir Colony.
The complainant alleged that DSP Imran Babar Jamil tempted her sister on May 4 when she was alone in her room. She said her parents had gone to their relative’s home. She said that the accused also took her to some undisclosed place and abused her. She said that afterwards he abandoned her sister in front of her house. She said that when they asked her sister, she told the whole story.
The police have arrested the accused and sent the girl to hospital for her medical examination.
The accused, while talking to the media, alleged that he was innocent and implicated in the case. He said that he received complaint from an unidentified woman that some illegal business was going on somewhere near Kalma Chowk. He said that the woman said that she was also forced by some rogue elements into the business against her will. She requested him for help. He said that when he went there, he was implicated in the matter with the allegation of sexual abuse. He said that some senior police officers were behind his implication.
Meanwhile, Operations DIG Dr Haider Ashraf suspended Kahna SHO Afzal Sindhu for giving the accused an access to the media. Police are investigating the matter further.
Later, a judicial magistrate of Model Town courts sent DSP Imran Babar to jail on 14-day judicial remand. The police had produced the accused before the court and sought his physical remand. However, the court rejected the plea of the police and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand. The court directed the police to submit challan of the case on the next hearing.
gangs: Lahore police arrested 206 members of 91 criminal gangs in April. Police also arrested 202 proclaimed offenders and 81 court absconders during the same period besides arresting 432 illicit arms carriers, 592 drug peddlers and 535 gamblers. Similarly, police rounded up 900 persons on various violations of law.
accidents: Total 599 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Six people were killed and 483 critically injured in the accidents. As many as 283 drivers, 18 underage drivers, 105 pedestrians and 317 passengers were among the victims. The statistics show 117accidents were reported in Lahore Control Room, affecting 118 people and placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 51 road accidents in Faisalabad.
